100,000 star nurseries mapped in a first-of-its-kind exploration

The stellar nursery, the cauldrons of gas and dust in which stars are forged, are much more diverse than astronomers first thought, according to a new study, the first of its kind.

Astronomers from the High Angle Resolution Physics in Nearby Galaxies (PHANGS) project have systematically mapped over 100,000 nurseries in 90 galaxies and found that each one is much more unique than first thought.
