126 active cases of COVID-19 registered in the “Regina” correctional center | Coronavirus

Among the more than 400 employees, 42 are active cases, while another 84 cases relate to prisoners, of whom there are about 670 people in the institution.

In comparison, among the detention centers that have already reported cases of COVID-19, the Prince Albert Center currently has 1 active case of COVID-19.

On April 20, to remedy the situation, the Saskatchewan government added correctional officers across the province to the vaccine priority list.

Our government is extremely grateful for the excellent work done by correctional staff to ensure the health of prisoners during the pandemic.

Vaccination is offered to prisoners subject to eligibility. Currently, 22 prisoners have been vaccinated at the “Regina” correctional center.

So far, 215 prisoners have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the province.

Of these, 44 were at the Prince Albert Correctional Center, 21 at the Pine Grove Correctional Center and 119 at the Saskatoon Correctional Center.

Since the start of the pandemic, over 1,000 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the province’s correctional centers among staff and prisoners.
