Quebec is full of small independent video game studios, but many of their games often go under the radar. These independent studios will be presenting their new game in the coming months, so here are 16 Quebec games to watch over the next year!

Sea of stars
One of the productions indie Quebecois that the entire Jeux.ca team is impatiently awaiting, the next game from the studio Sabotage (The Messenger), based in Quebec City! Sea of Stars caused a lot of talk last year when it became Canada’s most heavily funded video game project, raising over $ 1,628,000.
Sea of Stars will be a turn-based RPG inspired by the classics of the 90s. The story of the game will be a pre-episode (prequel) to The Messenger, the studio’s latest hit. It will feature 2 children of the Soltice who will combine the powers of the sun and the moon in order to defeat the terrible Fleshmancer, an evil alchemist.
Sea of Stars is scheduled for 2022 on consoles and PC (Steam)!
Winds & Leaves
Montreal studio TREBUCHET (Prison Boss VR) will present its brand new game for the PlayStation virtual reality headset, Winds & Leaves, next month! You will embody the Gardener, a being who has a special link with trees. It uses the nourishing energy of nature to travel the world. Your goal: to restore life in this world and prevent the Cataclysm from happening …
In his blog on the PlayStation website, the game’s creative director reveals that “the overall mood and pace of the game has been greatly influenced by The Man Who Planted Trees, an old Quebec animated short film about a hermit who spends his life planting forests, all alone, one tree at a time. ”
Winds & Leaves will be available on July 27, 2021 exclusively on PS VR (PS4 and PS5).
Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan
Save fanciful creatures with the power of kindness to re-color a world in black and white. This is what Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan offers, the next 2.5D adventure / RPG game from Montreal studio Manavoid Entertainment (Epic Manager).
You will play Billy, a shy and happy child from the world of the imagination. He will have to right the wrongs caused by the cruel Leviathan, who has stripped all the colors of the world, leaving the inhabitants without joy and in anxiety. You will be armed with your kindness and a talking fishing rod in order to save the world and help the dwellers of the fantasy world regain the courage to be themselves.
No date at the moment, but the game should be available this fall on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
Cowabunga! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back in a new retro game, inspired by the 1987 animated series and developed by Montreal studio Tribute Games (Panzer Paladin, Flinthook).
Bebop and Rocksteady storm Channel 6 and seize super devices to help Krang and Shredder carry out their Machiavellian plan. Our favorite turtles will then be thrown into fierce battles in the heart of TMNT’s most famous timeless locations.

TMNT: Shredders’s Revenge will be available in 2021 on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.
Seasons is described as an atmospheric 3e nobody. You will play as a young woman from a distant land who must collect artifacts and memories before a mysterious cataclysm sweeps the entire world with its precious treasures. Your goal: to protect these treasures from a possible end and find out what caused the last collapse and what could cause the next.
The game is developed by Montreal studio Scavengers (Darwin Project). The studio has been in the spotlight recently following accusations of harassment against one of the co-founders. An external company submitted a report and Scavengers committed to implementing numerous measures to improve communication within the company.
No date for the game’s release, but Seasons will be available on PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5.
Montreal studio Folklore Games recently unveiled a brand new trailer for their upcoming production, Spiral. This narrative game, inspired by Life is Strange and What Remains of Edith Finch, follows the adventures of Bernard, a man who suffers from cognitive degeneration and slowly loses his memories, as he tries to say goodbye to them one last time in this journey through his mind.
Although the game touches on difficult topics, Folklore Games does not seek to make it a tragic experience. Rather, the studio wants to start a discussion and offer a more intimate view of the disease in order to educate players. Spiral seeks to bring forward the person behind the illness in order to help people better understand their situation.

Disciples: Liberation is a strategic turn-based combat RPG developed by Quebec-based studio Frima. Posted by Kalypso Media, the game will be on 4e opus of the Disciples franchise. Liberate the lands of Nevendaar and uncover countless stories in a world rich in detail where no decision is without consequences, and where the smallest misstep can be fatal.
Frima promises us more than 80 hours of solo play, all divided into 3 acts, with more than 270 quests and 5 unique endings.

Citywars Savage is an MMORPG developed by Montreal studio 01 Studio.
“In this game you can create and collect resources, but what makes Citywars Savage different is your ability to create your own city and code your own army of NPCs to grind resources for you as you battle them. ‘others or as you explore the map and complete quests! “
No date has been announced for the game’s release, but Citywars Savage has been in beta since June 11 on Steam.
If you love The Sims, you are really going to love the following. Developed on the Unity game engine, Paralives is a simulation game that will allow you to build your dream home and customize it however you want. In addition, you will be able to create characters in your image and manage their life, both inside the house and outside your virtual home.
The game is developed by the Paralives studio, founded by Alex Massé. If Paralives was to be a solo project at the base, the enthusiasm of the players towards the game made it so that Massé was able to hire several artists to support him in the development.
Indeed, the project is mainly funded thanks to the players who support the project via the Patreon platform. We are talking about 9,700 players who contribute more than $ 57,000 per month to help the development of the game! The Quebec studio now has 10 employees working on Paralives.

Unknown 9: Awakening
Unveiled during Gamescom 2020, Unknown 9: Awakening will feature Haroona, a young girl with mysterious innate abilities to manipulate the invisible. Raised on the streets of Kolkata in India and haunted by visions of her own death, Haroona will need the help of a mentor in order to hone her gifts and gain access to the mysterious hidden dimension known as The Fold.
Developed by Reflector Entertainment (co-founded by Alexandre Amancio and Guy Laliberté), the Montreal studio was recently bought by the Japanese company Bandai Namco. The Awakening video game is part of the Unknown 9 extended universe. A detective novel (Unknown 9: Genesis), a podcast (Unknown 9: Out Sight) and a comic book (Unknown 9: Torment) are already available.

Goons – Legends of the Hockeyverse: The RageCure Games studio in Quebec recently won the 7th edition of the Catapult acceleration program. Their game Goons: Legends of the Hockeyverse is expected to be available towards the end of 2022.
Away – The Survival Series:We told you about it 2 years ago, but here is the Away game from the studio Breaking Walls is now scheduled for 2021 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Shishi – Ballad of the Oracle: Montreal independent studio Shishi is working hard on their next game, Shishi: Ballad of the Oracle. A single-player role-playing adventure game in which an Oracle named Elia must develop her self-confidence to awaken the power that lies within her. A demo is currently available on Steam.
Operation – Tango: The game from Montreal studio Clever-Plays has been available since 1er last June and received many positive reviews from players! A cooperative game where you will have to team up with a friend as an agent or hacker, with only your voices to connect and tackle a global threat together.
Zorya – The Celestial Sisters: Developed by MadLife Entertainment studio, Zorya is a cooperative puzzle game set in a desolate world where the sun never sets. Zorya won several awards in 2017 at Ubisoft’s Game Lab, including the Audience Award. The game is scheduled for September 2021 on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.
Dungeons & Dragons – Dark Alliance: Developed by Montreal studio Tuque Games, Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance has been available since June 22. Dark Alliance brings the universe of Dungeons & Dragons to life in an unbridled action-RPG game with real-time combat and dynamic co-op.
