The new 2023 Honda Civic Type R is now officially unveiled, and Honda revealed that it recently broke the frontwheel drive lap record at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan.
The new Civic Type R will be powered by a 2.0liter turbocharged engine and a sixspeed manual transmission.
“By developing the allnew Civic Type R, Honda engineers have once again achieved our goal of creating the most rewarding driving experience in the highperformance hatchback segment,” said Tom Gardner, Senior Vice President, Honda Motor Europe. “Thanks to exceptional achievements and the application of technologies derived from motorsport, we have surpassed the capabilities of even a stripped down and lighter version of the previous model. It is this pursuit of superior performance that has made the Civic Type R so popular with driving enthusiasts for 25 years.”
Designed in line with the Ultimate Sports 2.0 model concept, the new Type R is based on the sleek, sporty silhouette of the recently introduced Honda Civic e:HEV. To enhance the sporty look and improve ride quality, the Type R is noticeably lower and wider. The squat shape is enhanced by wheel arches that flare over lightweight 19inch matte black alloy wheels wrapped in bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
Honda said the new Civic Type will go on sale in 2023, with first deliveries to customers in Europe starting in early 2023. For now, we don’t have any details on how much the car will retail.
