82 New COVID-19 Cases in New Brunswick, a Record

One person in the Moncton area, ages 40 to 49, also died of COVID-19, bringing the total to 54 in the province since the start of the pandemic.

The Fredericton and Moncton regions are hit hard with 30 and 27 new infections, respectively. The Edmundston region has 14 infected people. The Saint John and Bathurst regions add four cases each.

The situation continues to deteriorate in New Brunswick, as 33 people are hospitalized, including 15 in intensive care. Among these hospitalizations, none are under 19 years of age. The number of active cases is increasing to 628.

Public Health also reports that 79.2% of eligible individuals are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and 88.0% have received a first dose of a vaccine.


As of Saturday, 61 cases had been added in the province and 85% of them were not fully vaccinated. A person from the Fredericton area also died.

The provincial government is reminding New Brunswick residents that due to the current number of COVID-19 related hospitalizations, the state of emergency was restored on Saturday and a mandatory order is now in effect. It includes new measures to limit contact, ensure that physical distance is maintained and require certain companies and certain events to implement a vaccination or screening policy in the workplace.
