A new studio formed by Witcher 3 veterans is preparing a multiplayer stealth game set in feudal Japan. – Permanent worlds

The former developers of Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 have teamed up to create a new studio, Dark Passenger. The studio has announced that it is working on an upcoming multiplayer stealth action game set in feudal Japan.

The studio made the announcement late last week and showed off a preview of the game universe it’s creating with the first concept art. The game, which is a multiplayer stealth action game, is under development and uses the Unreal 5 engine. It takes players to feudal Japan.

In the land of cherry blossoms, players will embody shinobi and kunoichi warriors to fight against the reign of terror imposed by the shogun. Players will wield a variety of weapons such as the legendary katana, kusarigama chains, kunai and more.

“A troubled hour has come in the Land of Cherry Blossoms, when nameless conquerors overthrow the ruling shogun and seize his throne. All those who dared to oppose him not only suffered defeat, but also joined his ranks against their will. As the usurper’s army grows stronger, his actions are closely monitored by the insidious lords of the world of shadows. To find out the origin and motives of the aggressor, the secret houses of the assassins send their warriors in search of artifacts belonging to him, fraught with extraordinary power. »

The studio’s first-person title will feature a so-called new movement system that will allow players to truly immerse themselves in ninja fantasies. Players will be able to jump from arrows fired at them, climb walls using their claws, or pole vault using the Yari samurai weapon.

“Our goal is to create an immersive online experience that combines collaboration and competition. We are fascinated by interpersonal interactions, alliances, bold confrontations and unexpected twists. In order to make each game unique and amazing, we use advanced procedural solutions. While the goal will be the same for all players, achieving it will require different approaches, tactics, and paths each time. »

It’s still very early, but you can check the details on the Dark Passenger website. The game is currently planned for PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
