TikTok is announcing a new feature to allow creators to better monetize their content. In addition to earning money from the TikTok Creator Fund, popular TikTokers can now upload videos to a TikTok series whose content is protected by paywalls.
Fans of these creators can purchase the creator’s premium content and have access to 80 videos, each up to 20 minutes long. Content creators decide the price of their TikTok series, and access can be purchased via links in the video or on the creator’s profile.
For now, TikTok series creation is limited to a few creators. In the coming months, creators will be able to request access to this new feature.
What type of content is considered a TikTok series?
Anything that is not “adult content” can be bundled into a TikTok series, whether it’s cooking, exercise, beauty, lifestyle, or other topics.
Regular TikTok videos can be up to 10 minutes long. Thus, doubling the duration can allow creators to offer more detailed content to their viewers. While this new feature gives creators more control over their TikTok earnings, TikTok series content must still adhere to the TikTok community guidelines.
The TikTok Creator Fund was the first opportunity for creators to monetize their TikTok content. The main requirement was that the creator had to prove that they had received 100,000 genuine video views in the last 30 days in order to gain access to the Creator Fund.
But creators had to be resident in certain countries, be at least 18 years old, and have at least 10,000 followers to be considered eligible. And if they were accepted, then the money they received from the fund changed every day.
Some creators have made just a few pennies from their TikTok videos, while others have made millions of dollars. As such, the TikTok series offers creators more stability and reliability when it comes to the money they earn from making TikTok videos.
