Public health recommends that a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine be administered to residents of nursing homes.
This fall, CHSLD residents, private homes for the elderly, intermediate resources and family-type residences will receive the triple vaccine.
The other elderly people who do not live in these living environments are saved from this recommendation for the moment, announces the Minister of Health and Social Services Christian Dubé during a press conference on Tuesday, September 28.
As with the first two doses, residents will not have to travel to receive their vaccine. Mobile vaccination teams will visit living environments at the end of October. They will take the opportunity to carry out the annual flu vaccination campaign at the same time, specifies the minister.
Until now, only people with immunosuppression and dialysis had a recommendation to receive a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The epidemiological situation continues to set a trend of non-vaccinated patients in intensive care beds in the province.
