Before WWDC 2022 is over, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, accustomed to Apple brand rumors, plans to release the second generation of AirPods Pro in the last quarter of this year. Therefore, the official announcement can be expected during Apple’s usual September speech.

While still one of the best headphones on the market right now, the first AirPods Pro by that name were released almost three years ago and will benefit from new features that give them a slight facelift. There are rumors of a new design with a shortened stem (or even a complete removal), as well as the integration of a new, more powerful chip. This will, among other things, remove the bottleneck caused by the Bluetooth SBC and AAC codecs and thus make the AirPods Pro 2 compatible with the lossless audio formats introduced by Apple Music in June 2021. new features related to health (temperature sensor?) and sports (activity tracking sensor?) will also be implemented in these new AirPods Pro 2.
