Achievement of the day: AMD increases the performance of DX11 games up to 17%

Here is some very good news that we owe to AMD and its drivers. Indeed, we’ve seen AMD Software Preview drivers deliver +3% to +17% performance gains in games using the DirectX 11 API. Drivers will be available throughout May, and the current drivers are preview only.

In parallel, the new drivers available today also contain RSR 1.1, an acronym for Radeon Super Resolution. Version 1.1 of the RSR includes a sharpening filter that can be used to fine-tune this effect to your desired parameters. Please note that this technology does not compete with AMD’s FSR, as it is an add-on, but simply a performance enhancement feature for non-FSR-enabled games. How is NVIDIA image scaling compared to DLSS. There is no need for special development, so all games are compatible.

Improved performance and compatibility

Concretely, here are the announced performance gains:

  • Far Cry 5 : +4% profit
  • Farm Simulator 22 : +3% Gain
  • Total War Saga: Troy : +17% growth
  • Total War Hammer 3 : +5% profit
  • Legion of watchdogs : Gain 1+0%
  • The Witcher 3 : +% Gain
  • Apex Legends : +5% profit
  • Overwatch : +3% Gain
  • PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS : 3% gain
  • valiant : +7% profit

But other games not listed show even more performance gains. For example, Crysis Remastered increases gain by 24% with these drivers.

AMD does not elaborate on how this focus was achieved. Similarly, to take advantage of this, you must be at least Windows 10 version 1809 or at Windows 11 Version 21H2. Compatible graphics cards:

  • AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT, RX 6800 XT, RX 6700 XT, RX 6600 XT, RX 6500 XT and RX 6400.
  • RX 5700 XT and RX 5700, RX 5600 XT, RX 5500 XT and RX 5300.

The rest of the GPUs seem to be currently being tested for support, but besides the desktop ones, laptop users with the following graphics cards can also try the driver:

  • AMD Radeon Series RX6800M
  • AMD Radeon Series RX6700M
  • AMD Radeon Series RX6600M
  • AMD Radeon Series RX6500M
  • AMD Radeon Series RX6300M
