Activision buyout: Xbox boss wants to ‘keep Call of Duty on PlayStation’

What will happen to Call of Duty once Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard becomes official in 2023? Xbox big boss Phil Spencer tried to calm the game on Thursday afternoon, specifying, albeit vaguely, the franchise’s future on PlayStation in a message on Twitter.

Spencer confirmed that he had “good calls this week with Sony leaders” and that Microsoft’s intention was “to honor all existing agreements by acquiring Activision Blizzard.”

However, the leader added an important layer by mentioning that Microsoft wanted to “keep Call of Duty on PlayStation.” “Sony is an important part of our industry and we value our relationship [avec eux]“, continues the statement of the American.

Obviously, this isn’t a promise in good and proper form on the part of Microsoft, but, nonetheless, this opening by Phil Spencer may reassure some fans of the franchise on PlayStation. In other words, a door is open.

Now it remains to be seen if an agreement can be reached between Microsoft and Sony and, above all, its content. Does “keeping Call of Duty on PlayStation” mean that all new installments will come to Sony consoles like nothing happened? Or rather that we’ll keep Call of Duty: Warzone running on PlayStation and have to turn to Xbox or PC for the rest?

It will continue, but at least there is some hope.
