After Nike, it is Adidas’s turn to delve into the world of cryptocurrencies and the metaverse. In fact, the company has just formalized two partnerships with two big names in the industry, namely The Sandbox and Coinbase. The former describes itself as “a community platform where creators can monetize voxel ASSETS and blockchain gaming experiences.”
This platform allows, among other things, to buy virtual plots, such as land on which you would like to build a (virtual) house, which Adidas has done. In fact, the brand has just bought no less than 144 parcels, which it has paid for 400 Ethereum, or around 1.6 million euros at the time of writing. Everything was announced on Twitter by The Sandbox.
