Japanese composer Akira Yamaoka, recognized for his work with the series silent Hill and more recently The Medium, said in an interview that the next project in which he participated will be announced shortly. The information comes to us from a video produced by Al-Hub (see below).
There are many rumors surrounding the production of a new Silent Hill. One year ago, Dusk Golem raised that Konami had approached several studios to create two new games in this series: one soft-reboot as well as a game in episodic form.
When it comes to inside information about major horror series, Dusk Golem has often hit the nail on the head. For the future of Silent Hill, the stars are aligned: this interview with Akira Yamaoka is another promising clue. Additionally, we’ve known for a while that artist Masahiro Ito is working on a new video game.
Any news from Silent Hill soon?
As they say, there is no smoke without fire. Silent Hill is one of the most well-known horror series after resident Evil. However, the last games date from 2012 with Silent Hill: Downpour and Silent Hill: Book of Memories.
Konami’s focus on the development of its pachinko division has certainly not helped. About a week ago, we also learned that the Japanese company was restructuring its operations. Nothing better to fuel the rumors of a successful license sale like Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid or silent Hill.
However, this will not be the case, since Konami has indicated that it does not want to stop developing video games. Instead, it restructures and consolidates.
This is precisely why the interview with Akira Yamaoka is so interesting. According to him, we will have news of the project he is working on soon: before the summer of 2021 if all goes as planned. This little sentence in particular is revealing: “(…) I am sure it will be the one you are waiting for”, he replied to his interlocutor.
