Alan Ritchson signed a three-movie deal with Amazon after Reacher’s success

Amazon Studios wants more of Alan Ritchson, where did he come from. Following the resounding success of Ritchson’s Prime Video Reach series, it was announced that Amazon had signed the actor to a new three-feature deal. A statement from Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke about the new partnership has been released, which you can read below, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter.

“The coverage has exceeded our wildest expectations and Alan’s breathtaking performance has played a huge role in the success of the series. We are thrilled to continue to develop our relationship and share with our global Prime Video audience what is sure to be an even more brilliant performance.

Ritchson once played a live-action version of Aquaman in Smallville years before Jason Momoa took over the role of the DCEU. He can also be recognized by his role in the television series Blue Mountain State and its sequel. Most recently, the actor starred as Hawk on the HBO Max series Titans, having since left the show before starring in Reach. On the big screen, Ritchson is known for playing Raphael in Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and for his role in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. He made his directorial debut with Dark Web: Cigale 3301.

Ritchson took on his most popular role as the title character in Reach, which debuted on Prime Video in February. The series is based on Lee Child’s Jack Rich book series and received praise for the casting, with many fans feeling that Ritchson is similar to how the character is portrayed in the source material. The series quickly found success, receiving good reviews in addition to a huge audience, becoming the first Prime Video series to top the Nielsen streaming charts. A second season has since been ordered from Prime Video.

Reacher will return in season 2

Reach showrunner Nick Santora previously explained why Alan Ritchson is perfect for the role of Jack Reacher. He explained that it was a very complex character, as someone was needed who could not only look like what the fans expected, but also be able to convey Jack’s intellect convincingly. Ritchson impressed with his audition, and while the Reach crew kept checking on other actors to be sure, they knew they had found their man.

“It’s a complex set of characters. Don Granger, the producer of this project, constantly says: “Lee Child wrote a character that does not exist in the real world.” He is the tallest man in the world. He is the smartest person in the world. He can be incredibly brave, incredibly smart, and incredibly funny. I never met this person in the real world, so it was a difficult casting process. We saw a handful of incredibly talented actors for Reacher. We saw Alan reading and kept searching, but he was still in our database. Finally we came back and said, “Let’s look at Alan again. The actors who auditioned for the part were so good, thanks to Alan for getting him the part. He didn’t get over the amateurs. He surpassed some really talented and experienced actors.

Season 2 doesn’t have a release date, but you can watch Reach season 2 on Prime Video.
