Alex Gibney is working on a documentary about Elon Musk

Elon Musk receives treatment from Alex Gibney.

Gibney, who has worked on Scientology, Wikileaks and Russian President Vladimir Putin in his Oscar and Emmy-winning documentaries, announced on Monday that tech entrepreneur and multibillionaire Elon Musk was at the center of his latest work.

A feature film project called Muscle, months after its completion, is described as “the definitive and unbiased exploration” of the scandalous and headline-inducing CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and Twitter.

Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions is producing the film with Closer Media, Anonymous Content and Double Agent, who are also funding the project.

The list of producers and executive producers seems to rival the number of Tesla cars seen on the streets of Beverly Hills.

Gibney and Jesse Dieter are producing the film through Jigsaw, with Stacy Offman and Richard Perello executive producing. Joey Marra and Zhang Xin will produce for Closer Media, whose mission is to “create meaningful stories that bring people together”, with William Horberg serving as executive producer.

Nick Shoemaker and Jessica Grimshaw of Anonymous Content will produce, with Don Olmstead and David Levine serving as executive producers. The prolific banner has earned Oscar-winning films like The Revenant and Spotlight. And Dana O’Keefe is producing on behalf of Double Agent, a joint venture formed by Black Bear Pictures and New Regency to produce and finance premium non-fiction content for a global audience featuring Teddy Schwartzman, Michael Heimler, Yariv Milchan and executive producer Michael Schaefer . .

“I’ve been working on this film off and on for a while and I’m very excited about it,” Gibney said. “I am thrilled to have this extraordinary group working with me. Upcoming!”

One of the biggest names in documentary filmmaking, and especially not afraid to take on bold names that make their way into pop culture’s zeitgeist, Gibney’s research lens focused on Elizabeth Holmes in The Inventor: Seeking Blood in Silicon Valley Julien Assange in We stealing secrets: secrets. The History of Wikileaks and Putin with Citizen K. He Confronted Corporate Greed with Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room and the Political Sex Scandal with Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer. He won an Oscar for Taxi to the Dark Side, which tells the story of an Afghan driver killed by American soldiers.

AC Independent, Double Agent and UTA Independent Film Group sell documentaries worldwide. Gibney and Jigsaw have been replaced with UTA.
