Alteia obtains 15 million euros from the EIB for visual intelligence technology

The company Alteia, spin-off of the drone player Delair, has announced the signing of a financing contract for the amount of 15 million euros with the European Investment Bank (EIB), aimed at accelerating its growth. The financial transaction is directly in line with the EIB’s strategy to strengthen innovation in the deep technology sector and the competitiveness of the European Union in the strategic field of industrial artificial intelligence and data processing. Led by the European Guarantee Fund aimed at helping SMEs cope with the Covid-19 pandemic, the loan envelope will be delivered in two installments.

This financing will allow us to accelerate our activity in a context in which demand is growing exponentially ”, explains Michaël de Lagarde, president and co-founder of Alteia. Officially created in early 2021, from the image processing activities started in 2013 within Delair, Alteia has developed machine vision technology applied to industrial contexts to automate inspection or maintenance tasks. Its platform aggregates all types of data, including large-scale visual data, and uses unified databases, combined with artificial intelligence algorithms, to offer decision support tools to manufacturers.

Alteia offers many commercial applications for the control and management of critical infrastructures. To his credit, tools adapted to agriculture, civil works and construction, the inspection of electrical networks, or the exploitation of mines and quarries, with clients such as BASF, Enedis, General Electric, Eramet or Cemex.

Development of new business verticals

In its roadmap, the company envisions the development of new business verticals, particularly in the oil sector and industrial manufacturing sites. Our tools support companies in their digital transformation thanks to visual intelligence ”, insists Michaël de Lagarde.

The company has just signed a new contract with the Aramco company at the beginning of December to deploy its solutions in oil infrastructures. Already commercially established in Paris and San Francisco, Alteia, based in Labège (Haute-Garonne), prepares for the beginning of 2022 the creation of a new commercial subsidiary in Saudi Arabia.

The creation of 20 additional positions

To support its new technology and business developments, Alteia plans to hire around twenty additional engineers over the next 12 months. The company primarily seeks profiles of data scientists and software developers to consolidate their expertise in computer vision, spatial image analysis, software engineering, and artificial intelligence. Alteia currently employs 75 people, including just over fifty in the Toulouse conurbation.
