You’ve been waiting, perhaps even patiently, for AMD to let you know when you can get your hands on the latest V-cache gaming processors. Wait no more: According to the official announcement, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Ryzen 9 7900X3D will arrive before the end of the month, while the Ryzen 7 7800X3D will arrive in April. If you want any of these, you can start pinching your pennies now.
Here is the full release and price breakdown:
Ryzen 9 7950X3D – $699 February 28
Ryzen 9 7900X3D – $599 February 28
Ryzen 7 7800X3D – $449 April 6
All three are successors to a new generation of the well-received Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor that dominated its price point and won the hearts of gamers. The new 16-, 12- and 8-core chips proved to be incredibly powerful, outperforming similar Intel chips in single-threaded tasks and even in some multi-core tests. AMD calls them “the world’s fastest gaming processors” and at this point no one can say they’re wrong.
The prices for these chips are interesting. The 7950X3D is priced the same as the Ryzen 9 7950X but without the performance-enhancing V-cache feature, and the other two chips are only $50 more expensive than their non-gaming counterparts. We may see price cuts for these slightly older Ryzen 7000 series chips, officially or not. On the other hand, you never know for sure – the entire industry seems to be holding back production to keep supply levels low and prices high, while the PC market is in a serious lull.
