Apple iPad Air 5 will launch in early 2022 with A15 Bionic chip and 5G

Apple iPad Air 5 is rumored to launch early this year and some of its most prominent features are the use of A15 Bionic chip and 5G. Specifically, rumors are that it could launch alongside Apple’s third-generation iPhone SE in March or April.

According to Mac Otakara, a Japanese technology blog, the fifth-generation iPad Air and iPhone SE 3 will launch in “Spring 2022,” according to a Chinese “trusted source.” Spring 2022 takes place between March and May.

The latest rumor now claims that the general design of the previous 2020 iPad Air 4 will be retained, but will now feature a single-lens main camera, square edges, and a 10.9-inch screen. However, the innards of the tablet will be duly upgraded. The latter would feature the A15 Bionic chipset used in the iPhone 13 lineup, 5G support, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide front camera.

Last year, Apple introduced its new iPad 10.2 and iPad Pro 11 with the M1 chip, along with the larger iPad Pro 12.9, according to TechRadar. Furthermore, the company even released its own sixth-generation iPad mini to replace the previous model from 2019.

Given the other models in the iPad lineup, it can be assumed that the 2020 iPad Air 4 must now have a successor. However, it should be noted that the information about the upcoming release is just rumors and not yet official, so should be taken with a grain of salt.

Five iPad Product Options

There are no fewer than five different iPads to choose from, and they all come with several different configuration options. It seems that Apple is now trying to offer its audience different options. However, the cheapest option isn’t necessarily the smallest screen, which also happens to be the slimmest option for the most compact device. The power of each iPad doesn’t really fully correlate with its price.

That is why it is important to choose some suitable features when buying one to use. The fifth iteration of the iPad Air could also balance the equation by matching the price a bit more directly to the chipset used. However, if the rumors are correct, it will essentially be positioned as a less powerful iPad Pro 11.

Whether or not buyers need this wide variety of options will most likely be answered by Apple’s market research, according to the TechRadar article. This market survey from the tech giant should be pretty comprehensive. Either way, it’s clear that the ‘Air’ suffix no longer denotes the thinnest and lightest model, but rather a sort of ‘Pro but not too much’ model.
