Apple: new Mac and iPad M2 may be released in October

Following the launch of the iPhone 14, Apple could release a new M2-based iPad Pro, as well as Mac mini, Mac Pro, and MacBook Pro versions of the M2 at an event in October, according to Bloomberg observer Mark Gurman.

Mark Gurman believes that Apple will launch at least two new machines in October, which could include an updated and patched iPad Pro with an M2 processor and an updated entry-level iPad with an A14 chip and a USB-C port. There may also be Mac mini, Mac Pro and MacBook Pro M2.

9to5Mac reports that Apple will release an 11-inch LCD iPad Pro and a 12.9-inch miniLED iPad Pro. Both will also feature MagSafe power connectors.

In 2022, Apple will release the 10th generation entry-level iPad, which will feature a USB-C port instead of a Lightning connector, which should mean that Apple’s entire line of iPads will be USB-C compatible. The change comes after European lawmakers required all device manufacturers to support USB-C by 2024.

The start of the school year is just around the corner

Apple will be juggling a few balls ahead of the 2022 holiday shopping season after facing supply chain complications caused by China’s “Zero Covid” policy. The country is currently facing a severe drought that is affecting hydroelectric power generation on the Yangtze River and has led to power outages in the region, prompting Tesla to seek help.

The tech giant is set to announce its iPhone 14 lineup and new Apple Watch models on September 7, which falls on the same week that the company asks all employees at its Cupertino headquarters to return to the office three days a week. Tuesday and Thursday are mandatory, and the third day must be assigned by the teams.

Apple usually releases its new iPhones in September or October, but as Mark Gurman points out in his Power On newsletter this week, Apple pushed the launch of the iPhone 14 a little further, making it the earliest iPhone launch since 2016. Earlier launch date this year. gives Apple an extra week of iPhone sales in the quarter covering the biggest sales of the holiday season.
