Apple: new Mac Mini with M2 chip is faster, more powerful and somehow cheaper

Apple today introduced a brand new line of Macs, including the Mac Mini and MacBook Pro, all of which now feature M2 and M2 Pro chips.

The Mac Mini with the M2 is said to offer up to 50% faster performance with software like Adobe Photoshop than its predecessor with the M1, which was only two years old. Basically, you get a more capable, compact desktop computer for a starting price of $699.

Indeed, the Mac Mini M2, although clearly faster and more powerful than its predecessor, is sold at the same price. Starting today, you can pre-order the following configurations:

  • Mac Mini with M2 chip, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD and two Thunderbolt 4 ports for 699 €
  • Mac Mini with M2 chip, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD and two Thunderbolt 4 ports for 929 €
  • Mac Mini with M2 Pro chip, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and four Thunderbolt 4 ports for €1,549.

5229 € for the full version

If you’re adventurous and go for the full Mac Mini, it will come with an M2 Pro chip, 12-core CPU, 19-core GPU, 8TB SSD, 10Gb Ethernet port, and will cost you €5,229.

Whichever model you buy, the Mac Mini will come with two additional USB-A ports, an HDMI port, Gigabit Ethernet support, a headphone jack, and be available in silver. There is no Space Gray this time. And with the new M2 chip, Macs can support up to two displays at once, and the M2 Pro can expand to a full 8K monitor, a first for Macs.

The new Mac Mini is available for pre-order today and goes on sale Tuesday, January 24th.
