ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED laptop/tablet hybrid released on August 31st?

ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is a Windows 11 laptop equipped with an Intel Core i7-1250U processor, 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. Thanks to the flexible OLED display, it’s a bit difficult to decide if it’s a laptop or a tablet. It’s probably safer to say it’s both.

The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED, first unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, is yet to go on sale. But that could change soon: ASUS has scheduled an event for August 31st where the company says it will reveal more information about the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED computer.

At this point, we already know most of the key specs and design features of the Zenbook 17 Fold. But ASUS encourages users to subscribe to receive updates when the computer goes on sale.

Specification update

In terms of specifications, the Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED features a 17.3-inch 4:3 aspect ratio display with up to 500 nits of brightness, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR support, and a 0.2ms response time. The screen can be folded in the center to form two 12.5-inch screens with a resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels and a 3:2 aspect ratio. You can use the top screen as a screen and the bottom screen as an input device with a virtual keyboard. You can also place the physical keyboard on the bottom of the screen for a full laptop experience.

This unusual design also opens up the possibility of using the Zenbook 17 Fold in other ways. For example, you can fold it in the center and hold it like a book, with one page of content on the left and another on the right. Or you can put it on the table and use a wired or wireless mouse and keyboard for versatile PC use.

Under the hood of the computer is an Intel Core i7-1250U processor, a 15-watt, 10-core, 12-thread chip with 2 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores, as well as integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics. Other specs include 16GB of internal LPDDR5 RAM (which can’t be upgraded by the user) and a 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD on an M.2 card (meaning it should be upgradeable).

The computer has two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a 3.5 mm audio jack, a 5-megapixel camera with IR for facial recognition, stereo speakers, a microphone array, and support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.

The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED comes with a 75Wh battery and a 65W USB Type-C power adapter, while the laptop and tablet measures 379 x 288 x 13mm and weighs 1.8kg.

ASUS hasn’t revealed pricing yet, but hopefully we’ll find out later this month.
