As Venture Beat’s Jeff Grubbs had predicted, this week marks the beginning of ‘lag season’. The latest casualty is Battlefield 2042, which has a release date of October 22 to November 19.
The above post was posted on Studio DICE’s official Twitter account. This is what we can read:
“We have made the decision to postpone the release of Battlefield 2042. The game will now ship worldwide on November 19, 2021.
Creating next-gen Battlefield in the midst of a global pandemic has created unexpected challenges for our development teams. Given the scope and scale of the game, we were hopeful that our teams would get back together in our studios as we got closer to launch. Given that the current situation does not allow this safely, and with all the work our teams do at home, we think it is important to take the extra time to convey our vision for Battlefield 2042 to our players.
His enthusiasm for the game has been very inspiring. We believe in the game we create and thank you for your patience as we put the finishing touches on this experience.
A beta update is planned for later this month. ”- Oskar Gabrielson and the Battlefield 2042 development team.
Still, the worst has been avoided: a month late is not the disaster some might have anticipated.
