BenQ has announced a new projector that looks rather promising on paper. Called W1800i the device is HDR10 / HLG compatible and embeds a 0.47-inch DLP chip producing a native 4K image with a brightness of 2000 ANSI Lumens according to the company.
The interface also works on Android TV, which is still too rare for our taste on the market. The ergonomics should thus prove to be satisfactory and the device will give access to the many applications of the Play Store, we obviously think of SVoD services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney +.
Extensive and faithful colors?
BenQ has also placed emphasis on color accuracy, promising a Delta E of less than 3 right out of the box (calibration certificate in support) and a filmMaker mode as on televisions, that is to say supposed to guarantee a rendering as close as possible to the calibration of reference monitors used in cinema. And that’s not all, thanks to a 10-bit color display, the W1800i covers 100% of the Rec.709 color space according to BenQ.
The BenQ W1800i is expected in June at a price of 1199 euros.
