Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced the acquisition of the Bluepoint Games studio, known among other things for its masterful work on the remakes of Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus.
“With each of their projects, Bluepoint has set the bar even higher in terms of graphics and gameplay, and the studio’s experience in creating worlds and characters will be a huge asset for future projects. PlayStation Studios,” said Hermen Hulst , CEO of PlayStation Studios.
A new original project for Bluepoint Games
Marco Thrush, president of Bluepoint Games, told IGN that the studio’s next project will not be a remaster or remake.
“Our next project, we are working on original content right now. We can’t talk about what it is, but it is the next evolutionary step for us. The transition from remasters to remakes allowed us to put our skills to the test and outdo ourselves for the next step, ”he said.
A few months ago, many analysts were relying on a modern recreation of Metal Gear Solid. The new IP is much more exciting (and risky!), As it marks a certain maturity for the studio, which has had a long-standing relationship with Sony for over 15 years.
