BMW is investing in Alitheon through its BMW i Ventures fund. A startup specializing in artificial intelligence technologies for optics announced on September 20, 2022 that it had raised $10 million during Series A. BMW has already invested in the startup during its climb to the primer.
Unique digital identifier
Alitheon is developing a solution called FeaturePrint. This simplifies the digitization of physical objects for their identification, authentication and traceability. The startup explains that it wants to offer FeaturePrint a solution for authenticating articles in the same way that fingerprints can identify people.
All you have to do is take a picture of the object with your smartphone or the camera present on the production line. The FeaturePrint application automatically identifies and encodes all unique attributes and characteristics present on the surface of an object into a unique profile. “This allows you to effectively identify a product among millions of others, guaranteeing the authenticity and origin of the product,” says BMW. Alitheon guarantees that no two items are the same, even if they are produced on the same production line.
Already the first clients
This technology is designed in such a way that there is no need to modify objects to identify them. And anyone can easily take a photo to identify the part, no special scanners or readers are required. The aim is to avoid counterfeits, misidentification of parts and their misuse. FeaturePrint provides accurate tracking on the assembly line and across all distribution channels.
Alitheon’s solution targets the automotive, aerospace, luxury, medical, and other industries. The startup ensures that its technology is already in use by several customers. With this fundraiser, the young shoots intend to hire and finance marketing expenses.
