Sorare, the most popular French unicorn in the French Tech ecosystem, has partnered with 11 Ligue 2 clubs to launch a new competition that brings together the European second divisions.
As of this 2022/23 season, Sorare becomes the exclusive and long-term partner of 11 Ligue 2 clubs. Thus, players will be able to buy cards from players playing in Amiens, Bastia, Bordeaux, Dijon, Caen, Rodez, Guingamp, Sochaux, Grenoble and Paris. Sorare plans to announce partnerships with other Ligue 2 clubs in the coming weeks.
These launches are part of Sorare’s strategy to increase the attractiveness of the European second division. Thus, the French leader of fantasy football organizes a competition called “Second Division of Europe”. This will allow Sorare to appeal to smaller budgets, given that Ligue 2 player cards will logically cost less on average than Ligue 1 player cards. This competition should also be of interest to managers looking to find talent. the cost of which could potentially increase.
However, remember that despite the gaming aspect, Sorare is a cryptocurrency-based gambling game that comes with risks. The National Gaming Authority (ANJ) has issued a warning to the company, asking it to prove that it is not a sports betting platform in disguise. Thus, in the coming months, Sorare may be forced to verify the identity of its users, such as the FDJ or Betclic platforms, for example.
