Microsoft announces it has signed an agreement with Nintendo allowing the Japanese manufacturer to use licensed Call of Duty games on its systems. On the other hand, there remains a condition that must be met in order for the promise to be fulfilled.
Return of Call of Duty on Nintendo systems?
In the event that Microsoft’s takeover of Activision Blizzard is confirmed – and it would be an understatement to say the US firm is taking steps to approve the file – then Call of Duty saga video games will now be offered on Nintendo consoles for “at least 10 years”.
In this case, obviously, we will talk about Switch, so far deprived of the famous license. Surprisingly, this announcement was made by Phil Spencer, president of the Xbox division at Microsoft, from his Twitter account. In a few words, the man also mentioned an agreement with Steam, potentially providing access to CoD games on the platform so loved by PC gamers, in addition to Switch.
From there, PlayStation players may begin to tremble imagining being potentially deprived of Call of Duty on their system… For its part, Sony has made no bones about its concerns, going so far as to accuse its rival of seeking to make Activision Blizzard King Xbox games exclusives that Microsoft will systematically refute.
With our acquisition, Call of Duty will be available to more players and more platforms than ever before. It’s good for competition and good for consumers. Thanks @Nintendo. Any day @Sony wants to sit down and talk, we’d be happy to sign a 10-year deal for PlayStation as well. https://t.co/m1IQxdeo6n
