Carcassonne: the hospital opens vaccination to children between 5 and 11 years old on January 8, 2022

Last appointments before the end of the year, vaccinations for children and mandatory 3rd dose for caregivers: Carcassonne hospital center is organized.

Get vaccinated in the last time slots of 2021

The new vaccination center in the house of Montlegun made available by the City Council will close for three days from December 31 to January 3, but, insists the Carcassonne hospital center, “there are still time slots to vaccinate before the end of the year “, in the 8 lines created, reserved from 85 to 90% until Friday. Given the high-tension situation in Aude hospitals, health professionals ask for vaccination, to prevent “severe forms of Covid” requiring hospitalization. To reserve a time slot, you are asked to go through the usual platforms (Doctolib).

5-11 years as of January 8

The Carcassonne hospital center is also preparing, this time within the confines of the hospital and not in the Montlegun Vaccinodrome, to vaccinate children aged 5 to 11 years. The vaccination of children is preceded by a medical interview prior to vaccination and a time in which the health professional answers the questions of the child and his parents (explaining the choice of place, within the hospital). Authorized from December 22, until then reserved for the most fragile children, it had not yet been implemented on a large scale in the Aude: it will be from January 8, 2022 in Carcassonne. Doctors in the city are also authorized to vaccinate the very young. The vaccine given to children is the pediatric form of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which is three times lower in dose than the adult form of the vaccine that is injected in people 12 years of age and older.

3rd mandatory dose for caregivers before the end of January

Nursing staff are also invited to take their mandatory booster dose, as announced last week by the Minister of Health. The booster vaccination campaign ends at the end of January. The cases of rejection among the nursing staff last September (for the first two doses) were “quite marginal”, explains Emmanuelle Prot, HRD of the hospital. A score of people had not complied with the vaccination obligation, caregivers, administrators, medical-technicians and doctors included, of the 2,000 hospital employees.
