Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson is under the COVID-19 protocol and will miss Sunday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks, it was announced.
Carlson was late for warmups on Saturday against the New York Islanders while awaiting the result of the COVID test, but he did eventually play, playing a total of 23:48 in a 2-0 win.
Carlson has eight goals and 24 assists for 32 points in 38 games.
Separately, the Capitals have removed defenseman Dmitry Orlov and forward Carl Hagelin from the COVID-19 protocol.
Orlov has four goals and 13 assists in 36 games so far this season, while Hagelin also has two goals and five assists in 36 games.
Wreath in Protocol
The Vancouver Canucks signed Conor Garland under the NHL’s protocol regarding COVID-19 on Sunday.
They made the announcement shortly before a game in Washington against the Capitals.
Garland, a 25-year-old American, has 10 goals and 24 points this season in 37 appearances. It is the third pointer of theirs.
The Canucks are trying to snap a three-game losing streak.
The club will complete a five-game trip to Nashville on Tuesday.
Joey Anderson and Brett Seney reassigned to the Marlies
Forwards Joey Anderson and Brett Seney were reassigned to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies by the Maple Leafs from reserve.
Anderson has zero goals and zero assists in three games so far this season. Seney has not accumulated a point in two games.
Reinforcement for the Golden Knights
The Las Vegas Golden Knights greeted the return of Shea Theodore, Nicolas Roy and Nolan Patrick during practice Sunday.
All three players have been removed from the COVID-19 protocol.
Injured, William Carrier also regained his place in the team’s fourth row during training.
DiPietro in the reserve team
The Vancouver Canucks recalled goaltender Michael DiPietro from the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks for reassignment to the reserve team.
The 22-year-old has yet to play in the NHL in 2021-22. He has a 3.19 goals-against average and an .896 save percentage in 13 AHL games so far this season.
One match and Bernard-Docker is back where he came from
The Senators assigned defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker to the reserve team.
The 21-year-old has one assist in five games so far this season, clocking 12:53 in Ottawa’s 6-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
Calgary Flames forward Tyler Pitlick did not participate in practice this morning and is being evaluated daily due to an undisclosed injury.
The 30-year-old has two assists in 25 games so far this season.
Movement for the Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks have removed defenseman Jake McCabe from the COVID protocol and assigned defenseman Ian Mitchell and forward Lukas Reichel to the Rockford Icehogs.
McCabe has three goals and six points in 32 games so far.
Mitchell has one assist in eight games, while Reichel is scoreless in two games with the Blackhawks this season.
Additionally, forward Mike Hardman and goalie Cale Morris have been called up to join the Blackhawks’ cab crew.
Hardman has two assists in 19 games this season, while Morris is 1-0-0 with a .919 save percentage and a 1.64 goals-against average in the AHL this season.
Samuel Fagemo and Jacob Go Down
The Los Angeles Kings have assigned forward Samuel Fagemo and defenseman Jacob Moverare to their reserve team,
Both players did not get a point in the only game they played.
