Carrefour moves towards ultra-fast delivery with Uber and Cajoo

Carrefour had reached an agreement with Uber Eats in April 2020 to deliver in 30 minutes, from almost 2,000 Carrefour stores. Since then, the association has been strengthened to increase the number of affected points of sale and increase the range of products available, thus meeting the needs of a more demanding and hurried urban clientele, who want to make their daily purchases online.

This new option, called “Carrefour Sprint”, will offer a 15-minute delivery service to residents of the French capital, exclusively through the Uber Eats mobile application. Products will be stored in the famous dark stores, shops closed to customers where employees prepare orders for delivery. Nine dark stores operated by Cajoo, the third partner in this business, will thus be used for Carrefour’s needs.

At the beginning of the year, Carrefour acquired a minority stake in start-up Cajoo, an on-demand grocery delivery app that is based on Shippingbo technology and a network of mini-warehouses that stretches across the hexagon.

Beyond Cajoo, other start-ups with strange names, such as Gorillas, Getir and Flink, are coming to establish themselves in this growing market for express delivery of groceries, in which more established distributors, such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats, also want to compete. plus. and more. Uber and Carrefour plan to expand the 15-minute delivery service to other major French cities such as Lyon, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Lille and Montpellier in the coming weeks.
