Chorus: The Narrative Shooter on Playstation 4

Two very in symbiosis

“Play as Nara, once the greatest warrior in the Circle, on her quest to destroy the hidden sect that haunts her endlessly and owes its existence.

Get devastating weapons and use mind-blowing powers in this new evolution of space simulation and shooting games.

Take command of the Forsaken, a conscientious space hunter, and explore ancient temples, risk your life in thrilling weightless combat, and venture beyond the confines of reality.

Enter a new dark universe full of mystery and conflict.

Explore amazing places such as vast space stations or even planes of existence beyond comprehension.

Take part in thrilling, weightless battles amid breathtaking cosmic landscapes or narrow crystalline corridors.

Chorus offers you a sublime experience in which exploration of the galactic vastness of space and frenzied action are one. “

I play:

You pilot your ship in third-person view, in a maze of worlds in a “semi-open” sector (understand that you go wherever you want, despite some restrictions), alternating between the exploration phase and the combat phase.

In addition to the main quest, side quests will automatically take priority when passing certain locations.

Joystick handling is simple (fire the R2 trigger, turn the gun on the directional joystick, as well as the right direction and left thrust, along with the ability to dodge and increase speed).

Although the armament is not extremely diversified (it will still have to be adapted according to the target to be drilled, from a simple projectile, shields, to armor), it fits into a classic evolutionary system of your ship (reinforcement of the hull or shields, damage increase, speed …)

More innovative, the mystical links that bind you to your ship, allow you to activate powers (or rites) that will allow you to move away or induce a dysfunction in enemy material.

The verdict :

The bet was to leave his letters of nobility a little forgotten. The shooters, too classic and superfluous, have gradually lost their splendor.

To do this, Chorus relies on the narrative aspect, omnipresent everywhere and at all times.

The scenario, although classic (redeeming oneself by saving the world) is well interpreted and brings a whole dimension to the adventure, aided in it by a spicy and grandiose background of the universe, to be discovered little by little, through encounters and flashbacks.

These phases of discovery are interspersed with scenes of enjoyable, albeit redundant, action after the twenty hours of play required to traverse the game.

To enhance the atmosphere, the HD graphics are really impressive and the immersive soundtrack is desirable.

In short, Chorus is an excellent shooter, edgy, having had the good idea to add a beautiful story, in a great and perfectly rendered universe.

The gameplay is a bit repetitive, but this fact is inherent to the genre, having done everything possible to correct this deficiency, alternating contemplation and pure combat with spectacular explosions.
