CHRONIC. Get involved in environmental issues – Sciences et Avenir

This article is taken from the monthly journal Sciences et Avenir – La Recherche #909 of November 2022.

Learning sites on climate and biodiversity issues are being opened everywhere. The severity of the hits this summer is accelerating the momentum.

Become an actor and actress of these major transformations in consciousness and knowledge

Understanding and taking action as a matter of urgency is presented as the need to initiate action to adapt to a rapidly changing climate, as well as action to transform our infrastructure and lifestyle towards a more sustainable low-carbon society. To become an actor and actress of these major transformations in consciousness and knowledge is the goal. It is available at all levels of decision-making (state, communities, companies, etc.) as well as in the media and for citizen participation with educational issues for the youngest.

Be careful not to overlook the highly political aspect of decisions.

Be careful, however, that this simmer of learning is not a “disguise in disguise” that gives the impression of taking action now while deferring concrete action until later. Particular attention should also be paid to the content of these training courses, which, in addition to understanding the scale of the problems, should also provide an opportunity to understand their social aspects, to question our relationship to the living and the common, our value systems and decision-making in the dynamics of change. Thus, be careful not to overlook the highly political aspect of decisions. But at least if a “climatic” choice is made, no one can say they didn’t know.
