Control 2: Great news, game confirmed and showing now!

As such, the sequel to the 2019 supernatural thriller Control is in the early stages of development. The game is currently scheduled for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC.

Cooperation with 505 Games

Developer Remedy Entertainment confirmed the news about the sequel to the 2019 hit, noting that Control 2 will be a joint project with publisher 505 Games (who previously published the first Control).

Control 2 (previously known as Codename Heron, which, by the way, was considered a spin-off, not a sequel) will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and will be built on the Remedy’s Northlight engine, the two teams announced.

Therefore, Remedy will publish the game on the PC platform, and 505 Games will take care of the publication on the console platforms.

As such, Remedy leaves us with the only detail of this unique concept art that you can see in the announcement above. Indeed, the Control 2 project is currently only at the design stage.

This summer, the studio has already announced several projects in the universe of Jesse Faden: initially a project codenamed Condor, which will be a multiplayer game in the world of Control, as well as a much more secret game that will “expand control.” franchise with a big budget Game of Control.

Big budget game

“Now I am proud to confirm that the highest budget Control game, also known as Codename Heron, is Control 2, the complete sequel to our award-winning Control game,” said Tero Virtala, CEO of Remedy Entertainment.

An “initial development budget” of €50 million was indeed set as part of a co-development and co-publishing agreement with 505 Games. For example, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt cost $81 million. Meanwhile, the first Control cost $30 million.

“With Control 2, we’re about to take another leap into the unknown,” said game director Mikael Kasurinen. “It will be an unexpected journey. It will take some time, but honestly, this is the most exciting project I have ever worked on. It’s still early, but it’s worth the wait.”
