Covid-19: new restrictions to come to France

Against the Omicron variant, France tightens its controls for travelers arriving from abroad this Saturday, December 4

Gabriel Attal, the government spokesman, had announced it this Wednesday, December 1, at the end of the Council of Ministers. From now on, and as of December 4, all travelers over 12 years of age coming from a country outside the European Union who wish to go to France must present a negative PCR test for less than 48 hours, even if they are vaccinated.

On the other hand, people who present a complete vaccination schedule and come from an EU Member State, Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, the Holy See or Switzerland, do not have to present proof. For those not vaccinated, a test is requested and it is reduced to 24 hours.

The new classification includes a new “scarlet red” country category.

Another novelty is the incorporation of a new category to the classification of countries according to their epidemic situation: “scarlet red” countries. This category refers to countries where the virus is actively circulating and / or presents a risk of transmissibility of a new variant. These are the following countries: South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Mauritius, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe. The government advises “strongly” not to travel to the “red” countries and the new “scarlet red”.
