More than 230,500 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the province on Tuesday.

Anyone who wishes to participate in the vaccination effort in the province can apply by completing a document on the Ontario Matchmaking Portal. (New window).

The province has advanced with the administration of the third dose of the vaccine due to the rebound in the number of infections and the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.

As of Monday, all Ontario residents age 18 and older who received their second dose at least three months ago are eligible for a booster dose. However, it is difficult to find an appointment before January or even February in various regions.

The Ford government seeks to vaccinate up to 300,000 people per day.

Currently, 90.5% of Ontario residents age 12 and older have received at least one dose and 87.9% have received two doses. Just over 39% of children ages 5 to 11 have received their first dose.

Ontario offers some relief to businesses affected by these restrictions, while Ottawa is expanding the eligibility criteria for its assistance program.

Put on screen

Dr. Moore said Tuesday that the province was re-evaluating its screening criteria because of Omicron, and promised more details in the coming days.

Since the start of the pandemic, Ontario has recorded 661,563 COVID-19 cases and 10,133 deaths.
