Desperate for the critical situation in its hospitals, Ontario is struggling to find more staff, including from countries as far away as the Philippines.
Provincial Health Minister Christine Elliot announced this at a press conference on Tuesday.
“We continue to seek help internationally to see if teams from other countries can help us, but as you know, several countries around the world are in the same situation as we are,” she admitted.
“We have sent inquiries to the United States and are expecting specifications from them, but we have also approached other countries, such as the Philippines, and are expecting a return,” Minister Elliott said.
In recent days, a team of doctors from Newfoundland and Labrador has been announced. Manitoba also offered aid to Ontario, but did not specify how the province intends to help its neighbor.
