COVID-19: School Vaccines Are Better Than Expected

The first students vaccinated in schools kicked off at Polyvalente Jonquière, in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, where 246 students received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday.

However, almost 70% of students have already been vaccinated with their parents or have already made an appointment at inopportune hours.

Thus, the problem for schools is less. The Jonquière School Service Center originally planned five days of vaccinations for three of its high schools, but it will eventually only need three, the TVA Nouvelles Center said.

“It was a really big challenge for us, but in the end all we want is for our students to be vaccinated, so we are very happy with the response,” explained the communications adviser at the School Services Center. De la Jonquière, Stephanie Audet.

On the eve of the final exams, these two “free” days will allow students to better prepare themselves without interrupting the vaccination campaign.
