Montreal’s COVID-19 testing clinics have been taken by storm in recent days, and some people have had to wait long hours.
This was particularly the case Tuesday afternoon at the Chauveau clinic in the east of the city, the only functioning screening clinic in the area.
In an attempt to limit the crowds, the CIUSSS-de-l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal distributes coupons to prevent people from waiting outside. But despite this initiative, the queues are quite large.
The number of passengers is similar in other places in Montreal such as in the Center-Sud and in the north of the island of Montreal, among others, where sometimes you had to wait almost two hours to be detected.
The return to school and the lack of support staff partly explain the long delays at the clinics.
According to our information, the walk-in screening clinic at the Olympic Stadium will reopen early next week to offset the increased traffic.
