The health protocol implemented in schools is in the process of evolution. Currently, the current rule states that a Covid-19 case in a primary class automatically results in its closure. But that could change in the coming weeks.
According to information from the Ministry of National Education, revealed on Saturday, October 2, ten departments will experiment with the new health protocol in the school, which consists of stopping a class from the first positive case and testing all students.

This experiment is in line with an opinion issued in mid-September by the Scientific Council that recommended weekly screening for Covid-19 in primary school to isolate only positive cases.
According to the Ministry of National Education, confirming information from the Parisian, the affected departments are Aisne, Ariège, Côte-d’Or, Landes, Manche, Morbihan, Moselle, Rhône, Val-d’Oise and Var. For now, the date for the implementation of the new protocol has not yet been set.
Elementary schools in 47 departments are no longer affected by the mask requirement
Half of these departments are among the 47 for which the mask will no longer be mandatory in primary school for students as of Monday, October 4, due to a stabilized incidence rate of less than 50 per 100,000 inhabitants. The mask will remain mandatory for adults present in schools.

Jean-Michel Blanquer, Minister of Education, clarified that under this new health protocol, if the parents reject the Covid test, the child “will be considered positive precisely because he did not accept the test.”
1,692 classes were closed due to the Covid-19 epidemic on Thursday, September 30. According to the Ministry of National Education, this figure, which represents 0.32% of classes in France, was lower than last week.
