Jean Castex went Tuesday afternoon to the giant vaccination center opened in the morning at the Stade de France, in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis), “quite a symbol” according to the Prime Minister who went to the meeting with patients and caregivers.
The head of government was accompanied by the ministers of Health, Olivier Véran, and of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, as well as local elected officials such as the president of the region Valérie Pécresse, the president of the department Stéphane Troussel and the deputy Eric Coquerel .
He expressed his “gratitude and (his) gratitude to all those who are involved” in this vaccinodrome, as well as “in the 1,700 vaccination centers which operate throughout France” and to all the health professionals who assist with vaccination.
The Prime Minister also confirmed the objective of 10 million injected doses by mid-April, or even “from the end of this week”.
By starting a stroll in the basement of the sports enclosure, where the vaccination center was installed, Jean Castex called out to many patients, between several selfies. To one of them: “When did you have your date? This morning? Great!”.
The Stade de France center aims to perform 10,000 injections per week. Half of the meetings are reserved for residents of Seine-Saint-Denis, one of the departments most affected by the epidemic, and where resistance to vaccination has been observed.
The mayor of Saint-Denis, Mathieu Hanotin, thus explained to the Prime Minister “to employ mediators to go to convince on the markets, to seek those who hesitate, for whom the information does not reach them”. “Very good!”, Replied Jean Castex, who also congratulated retired health professionals who have returned to service to participate in the vaccination campaign.
At the call center set up next to the vaccination lines, where fifty people answer every day, one of the switchboard operators also assured the Minister of Health that appointments were quickly available for eligible people: according to him, by calling Tuesday afternoon, we could get vaccinated on Thursday.
