Crash Bandicoot 4 TEST: It’s About Time, a new face on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is a signed production Activision and Toys for bob which first appeared on PS4 and Xbox One. Unsurprisingly, the firms are offering a new edition for owners of the PS5 and / or Xbox Series X, but also on PC. What’s new in the area? A much sharper rendering (at least if you have the right screen) and some features related to the controller DualSense. A new version that slams? The answer in this test.

This new version of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is pure bliss.

First and foremost, a big strong point, if you already own the title on PS4 / Xbox One, know that an update allows you to get your hands, for free, on the so-called “next-gen” edition. So let’s skip the second and talk about the graphics. Basic, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is really beautiful and colorful, it is quite difficult to do “better”. And yet, by offering an image in 4K, players experience finer, more flashy production, with much, much sharper backgrounds. Result of the races? During cutscenes and certain phases in-game, we literally feel like we are watching an animated movie. It’s really fun for peepers, well done the developers!

In addition, the title runs in the 60 fps, bringing a significant fluidity that we did not have before. And for good reason, this adventure requires a certain skill depending on the level, to have a framerate high and constant allows you to manage your movements, your jumps and avoid falling into a crevasse. What a foot! Note, in passing, that loading times are super-fast (3 to 4 seconds to start a game). Regarding PS5 players, the team partly exploits the DualSense. By taking possession of Neo Cortex or from Tawna, the adaptive triggers are resistant by using the blaster or grapple. Joking? Not really … It lacks this “immersive” side to make us feel the power of weapons and equipment. There, it’s just a button … hard. Too bad for once.

Finally, this new version of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is pure happiness. The visual difference is noticeable and provides comfort during rather difficult phases; thanks the 60 fps. In other words, if you have the material at home, succumb to this edition which will amuse your retina.
