Cryptocurrency Platform Accidentally Pays Australian Woman Millions of Dollars

It took the company seven months to discover the error. Crypto.com has filed a lawsuit to demand a refund, Australian news outlet Channel 7 reported based on legal documents.

The company discovered during an audit in December that a payment made in May 2021 was in error. Instead of A$100, the Melbourne woman was paid at least A$10.5 million. An account number was accidentally entered instead of the amount.

Crypto.com sued to demand a refund. But according to Channel 7, part of the money has already been spent. The woman reportedly paid A$1.35 million for a five-bedroom house in a suburb of Melbourne.

Crypto.com has already won part of the legal battle. The competent judicial authorities in Victoria decided that the house should be sold again and the proceeds of the sale should be paid to the company. The trial will continue in October.
