Cyberpunk 2077: New and Returning Players Flock to Night City

CD Projekt is back with a big bang with Cyberpunk 2077, which we can even call a great story. Nearly two years after its chaotic release, the game seems to be attracting more players than ever. This is evidenced by the numbers registered on Steam, which we told you about the other day, which have increased: now recorded a peak of 86,130 concurrent players. The game’s record is far from broken (over a million), but it’s interesting to watch this trend. And this is not the only witness to the return of the popularity of the game: there is also a statement from CD Projekt yesterday:

Every day this week, Night City is visited by 1 million players, new and old. We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for being with us and playing the game.

The success is likely due to the animated adaptation of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, available for a week on Netflix and acclaimed by critics… But not only. Cyberpunk 2077 has been the subject of much attention from developers since its release. Many fixes have been made (often very massive). Version 1.6 was recently rolled out, and this version is synonymous with withdrawal: this is the last patch to be installed on older generation consoles, namely the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

These builds are often seen as delayed by many players. It was these versions that put the game in a delicate position: when it was released, they were not free from technical problems or errors, involuntary console shutdowns, or even screen freezes. Overall mediocre quality, for which CD Projekt apologizes, but that’s not enough: Cyberpunk 2077 has even been removed from digital stores, notably by Sony. Several investors immediately filed a complaint, claiming they had been defrauded by CD Projekt. In a word, several difficult situations to be solved by the Polish studio, which has always wanted to believe in it. The numbers, which are synonymous with success in the game, should bring relief. Anyway, this is what we can believe, looking at the tweet of Pavel Sasko, who is responsible for the design of quests in the game:

Many thanks to chooms for this second chance.

As mentioned above, the success of Edgerunners (Trigger) is known there, especially since content related to the TV adaptation was included in Cyberpunk 2077, as well as various and varied quests. A prologue-like story that traverses V, the hero of Cyberpunk 2077.
