Dark shops reopening soon to be watched, cities rejoice

Local elected officials left the workshop at the Ministry of Ecological Transition with a smile. On the agenda for this Tuesday, September 6th, is a consultation with Olivier Klein, Minister Delegate for the city, and Olivia Grégoire, Minister in charge of Commerce, on the hot topic of “dark shops”. These opaque-windowed vaults have increased in major city centers since the 2020 restrictions, to the chagrin of city halls. Under a decree expected in the coming days, dark shops will officially be considered warehouses and not businesses. Victory is for cities that can limit their installations. “Dark shops could be the end of urban centers,” Olivier Klein concluded.
