The start-up Data Legal Drive, specializing in GDPR compliance, has just announced a fundraising of 2 million euros from Lefevre Sarrut, a French group specializing in legal publishing. This is the second round for this young shoot, based in Levallois-Perret. The first of 1.5 million euros dates from 2019.
Thanks to this new envelope, legaltech wants to continue its commercial development in Europe and enrich its portfolio of solutions with new anti-corruption and CSR compliance offers. To achieve these objectives, it is planning a recruitment plan for 50 people in 2021.
Data Legal Drive was founded in May 2018 by Sylvain Staub, partner lawyer at DS Avocats. He has developed a SaaS software dedicated to compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
This tool offers a reporting dashboard, treatment mapping, management of personal data breaches, a “Privacy by design” module, model contracts and clauses, etc.
Awareness of the importance of the GDPR
The software has attracted more than 750 companies and public bodies, such as Arte, Nexity, Foncia, Coyote, Philips, Se loger, Liège airport and Louboutin. This enthusiasm could be explained by the awareness of companies and communities of the importance of European data regulations, according to Sylvain Saub, CEO of Data Legal Drive.
Thus, since 2019, the company says it has “noted an increase in the number of requests with the number of customers multiplied by three“, he adds. The arrival in the capital of Lefebvre Sarrut, which notably includes Éditions Francis Lefebvre, Dalloz and Éditions Législatives, will allow this customer portfolio to be increased.
