It is with sadness that we learn on this Saturday, May 29, the death of Benoit Sokal, comic book author and creator of the Syberia saga. Mr. Sokal died during the May 28, 2021 after a long illness.

Originally known for being an author and cartoonist (Canardo, Kraa), Benoit Sokal had known how to renew himself to support the new technologies of his time by entering the world of video games. It was in 1999 that he created theAmerzone, a point’n’click on PC and PlayStation. But, it was in 2002 that he really marked the video game landscape with Syberia, the first episode of a cult trilogy of the genre.

By inviting us through several universes mixing reality and fantasy, Benoit Sokal remains one of the most creative minds of his time. We wish our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Sokal. Remember that the Syberia 1/2/3 trilogy is available on Nintendo Switch, undoubtedly a good way to pay tribute to the artist by discovering or rediscovering these titles.
