Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was released on October 13, 2009 in the US and October 14 in Europe for PS3. The game, developed by Naughty Dog, is one of the studio’s first hits. At the helm of the project we find, among others, Amy Henning, Josh Sherr and Neil Druckmann, Creator licenses The Last of Us The work done on the game is impressive at the time. Sally, Chloe and Nate in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves takes place shortly after the events of the first game. Nate, the hero of the license, joins Chloe Fraser and Harry Flynn on a search for the missing Marco Polo fleet. To complete his task, our favorite treasure hunter goes to the Historical Museum in Turkey. But, lo and behold, he is trapped by Harry and ends up in jail until Sally, his partner and Chloe come to his rescue.

Subsequently, Nate learns that Harry Flynn is actually one of Lazarevich’s right-hand men, the game’s antagonist, who wishes to find the Cintamani stone, which has incredible power and allows him to become immortal. As you already understood, our dear Nathan Drake will once again have to show courage and courage to stop his rival and save the world!

Nate and Tenzin’s relationship…

Nate’s search trail leads him into the heart of the Himalayas. Indeed, our modern-day Indiana Jones goes there to find clues regarding the location of the fabled lost city of Shambhala. This place was supposed to be the famous Chintamani stone, so desired by the protagonist…

In these snowy lands, Nathan, injured in a train accident, meets Tenzin, a Tibetan climber who will help him get back on his feet. After that, the two men share many moments together, including some encounters with the Yeti! What’s interesting about their relationship is that, despite the language barrier, the two men manage to understand each other. This is followed by sequences of awkward understanding, but also pure and innocent passages that prove that even if they don’t speak the same language, these two protagonists manage to appreciate each other and make a little bit of progress together.

…inspired Ellie and Joel

What’s more, Neil Druckmann admitted years ago that this relationship between Nate and Tenzin was a big inspiration for the Naughty Dog teams, as well as Ellie and Joel in The Last of Us.

There is an episode where Drake meets a Sherpa named Tenzin who doesn’t speak English. And you build a relationship with him through gameplay – by the end you feel like you’ve connected with him, even if you didn’t understand anything he told you. It was so interesting for us.

In The Last of Us, we mainly play as Joel. At first glance, he is rather grumpy, especially in front of Ellie, an upbeat and sweet girl. Here the problem is not in the language barrier, but in the divergence of their two characters.

And then there are moments when you go and see these terrible things, and Ellie sees them differently. She says, “Wow, this place is quite nice. »

However, the further we delve into the story, the more we realize that our two heroes have a lot in common. And this revelation is the reason for the successful and addictive gameplay. Thus, we are presented with a portrait of a father and his daughter, both immersed in a ruined world. The affection they have for each other is their most effective weapon against the many obstacles they encounter throughout the adventure.
