Free Bikes For Kidz Detroit has partnered with Home Depot for Bike Donation Day, with the goal of putting a smile on a child’s face.
FB4K is a non-profit organization aimed at helping all children live a happier and healthier childhood by providing bicycles to those most in need.
The members describe themselves as a passionate group of people who love to give back. Their goal is to help every child feel the joy and freedom of riding their first bike and over the past three years they have helped nearly 5,000 children in the Detroit area get a bike and a helmet.
Those who wish to donate a used bicycle to the program can do so from 9 am to 2 pm Saturday at participating Home Depot locations, including 3163 Fairlane Drive, Allen Park; 25451 Michigan Ave., Dearborn Heights; 11100 Telegraph Road, Taylor; and 23300 W. Allen Road, Woodhaven.
FB4K Detroit will accept volunteer help from October 4 to December 4. 9 to help them prepare donated bikes to give to children in need. The work includes cleaning the bikes and, in some cases, repairing them.
Visit the group website fb4kdetroit.org to volunteer and learn more about the organization.
