E3 2021: the event will be broadcast online from June 12 to 15

On its official website, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced the dates for the show Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2021.

Pandemic requires, the high mass of video games will take place online only from June 12 to 15. Several big names in the industry have announced their support for such an initiative, including:

  • Capcom
  • Koch Media
  • Konami
  • Microsoft
  • Nintendo
  • Take-Two Interactive
  • Ubisoft
  • Warner Bros. Games

Recall that the 2020 edition of the E3 show had been canceled due to COVID-19. The Summer Game Fest event had taken its place with varying degrees of success.

“For more than two decades, E3 has remained the premier venue for showcasing the best the gaming industry has to offer, while unifying the world through games. This year, E3 is evolving into a more inclusive event. We are always on the lookout for ways to excite fans with big reveal and special occasions that will make this event a must have platform for video games, ”said Stanley Pierre-Louis, President of ESA .

Long reserved for the specialized press and industry professionals, the E3 show will therefore open its virtual doors to the general public. ESA hopes to welcome people in person as early as 2022 if the health situation permits. Until then, it will be necessary to be satisfied with online services on the main sites of streaming.

For ESA, this 2021 edition of the E3 show will be decisive. Publishers have much less to gain than in the past and now offer their own events, every part of which they control. Sony is a good example with State of Play. Moreover, the publisher had shunned E3 2020 before it was canceled, decrying a vision that did not match its objectives.
