Who is licensed? Who keeps their job? For Twitter’s 7,500 employees, that unbearable strain ended on Friday after several days of uncertainty. At 9 a.m. (San Francisco time), almost half of them received an email informing them that their post was being removed. Some realized their fate on Thursday evening: their access to the company’s internal tools was deactivated. “I am eight months pregnant. I was just cut off from access, ”a marketing employee wrote on Twitter. In the hours that followed, many people working in engineering, public relations, moderation, or communications in both the United States and Europe announced their resignations on the social media site.
